CBS reporter reveals the text that allegedly got Jeff Fager fired

According to Farrow's report, Fager has been accused of groping or inappropriately touching female CBS News staffers at company events.

Bloodworth Thomason doesn't mention the incident or the actress again, but the claim reinforces the sexual misconduct allegations Moonves is now facing and the pattern of behavior suggested in Ronan Farrow's New Yorker pieces.

In Rhodes' memo to staffers on Wednesday, he said, "This action today is not directly related to the allegations surfaced in press reports, which continue to be investigated independently".

In a statement, Fager denied the allegations and added that the termination was unrelated to them.

Fager did not respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.

For several hours on Wednesday, the contents of his text were a secret. "Because yes, we do receive harsh language all the time, but this is someone who held an enormous amount of power here who I respected and I was shocked". "One such note should not result in termination after 36 years, but it did".

Veteran "60 Minutes" correspondent Steve Kroft called Fager's message to Duncan threatening and inappropriate.

"Be careful", he wrote to her.

Here's what the DC region can expect from Hurricane Florence
And the more it hovers just off shore - a distinct possibility - the more potentially deadly storm surge it pushes on-shore. However, it was projected Wednesday that Florence would shift slightly to the south and possibly hit Georgia as well.

"CBS Evening News" anchor Jeff Glor told Duncan that the text was "unacceptable" and that the team at "Evening News" supported her "100 percent". She also created the Burt Reynolds comedy, Evening Shade, and was an early writer for the CBS sitcoms M*A*S*H, Rhoda, and One Day at a Time.

"It's unfortunate", Kroft said, "and everything about this situation saddens me". Earlier this week, The New Yorker ran another story with a new claim from a producer who was an intern at CBS in the 2000s. There's also some anger and apprehension.

"60 Minutes" is the most popular and powerful news broadcast on television, and Fager is only the second person to lead it during its 50 years of history. With Fager out, they are anxious about its future.

Rhodes said that Fager's longtime No. 2, Bill Owens, will manage the newsmagazine while a search is underway "for a new executive producer of the program".

His departure is effective immediately, the company said in a tweet.

Both men were defiant after the story was published. Outside law firms were brought in to conduct investigations.

If the information in her editorial checks out (and it does align with other accusations against Moonves), there are probably a lot of other women out there who would like to do the same. She detailed her final transaction with Moonves and CBS in her THR piece. In the end, she questioned why Moonves wouldn't just tell her that he had no intention of ever putting one of her shows on his network instead of just keeping her "hopping and hoping".

In a guest column for the Hollywood Reporter, Bloodworth-Thomason revealed that her high-dollar contract collided with the arrival of new CBS president Les Moonves.
