United 'Hopeful' Of Completing Alderweireld Move

According to The Mirror, United are understood to have found a breakthrough with regards to the central defender after Spurs chose to come down from their £75m valuation. Manchester United were thought to have turned their attention elsewhere, but perhaps it was just a smokescreen to instigate new transfer talks with Tottenham once more.

Sky Sports News previously reported Manchester United's interest in Mina as they look for a new centre-back, but they are understood to be planning an offer for Leicester's Harry Maguire.

Jose Mourinho had made the Belgian centre-back a top priority at the end of last season. Spurs were adamant in asking £75m for the defender, but United weren't keen to shell out as much.

As one door closes another one opens for Mourinho though as Toby Alderweireld is set to join the Manchester United squad in a £60m move from Tottenham, according to The Mirror. Spurs felt this will be the right move to cash in on the former Atletico Madrid man at an optimum price.

An AP report put the death toll as high as 28 after the air strikes hit close to the city's main public hospital Al Thawra.

Toby Alderweireld had an unbelievable World Cup where he played a key role in helping Belgium finish third.

The 83-time capped Belgium worldwide is expected to finalize his move to the Old Trafford in the next couple of days.

Victor Lindelof struggled to settle during his first season in England, while stand-out central defender Eric Bailly struggled with injury for large parts of the campaign. If he moves to Manchester United and performs well, he could be a superstar there and Mourinho's defensive style of play might suit him and he could be an apt leader of the defence of the Red Devils.
