Gonzalo Higuain: Maurizio Sarri was only one at Chelsea who wanted me

If the 30-year-old can maintain his scintillating club form for Milan this season, Chelsea may rue their failure to impress him - especially as they are not now blessed with a wealth of in-form goalscorers.

"AC Milan can confirm they have acquired the rights of Juventus footballers Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara", official statement of the club stated.

"But he was the only one at Chelsea who wanted me".

AC Milan finish their pre-season preparations on Sunday when they face Barcelona, while Juventus' final pre-season game is against Real Madrid on Saturday.

Higuain played the best football of his career at Napoli under new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, and reports suggested that the pair would link up once again at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea are known to have a strict policy when it comes to signing players over the age of 30, with concerns over the lack of resale value that the player would hold.

Sudanese FM Confirms Peace Agreement Between Rivals
Previous peace agreements held for only a matter of months before fighting resumed, which Kiir has blamed on foreign influence. President Kiir also said the remaining outstanding issues will be finalized with his rivals as soon as he arrives in Khartoum.

The striker arrives at Milan on an initial season-long loan for €18 million, with a clause to make the move permanent next summer for an additional €36m.

Higuain also said Leonardo, only hired by Milan a week earlier, made a major impact on his decision to join Milan. I enjoyed how they played last season. I want to help get Milan as high as possible. "All of them are young players with a great future, who can form a defence for many years to come".

"I have no regrets", he said. We had a few differences, but that is not what brought me here - what brought me here was the conviction Leonardo showed.

He told a press conference: "I have a lot of respect for Sarri".

"As far as we are concerned, we come from a very hard time in our club. It gives you goosebumps, it's special stuff", he said.
