Johnson, Dillashaw favourites to defend titles on UFC 227 odds

With a ferocious first-round knockout in the night's main event, TJ Dillashaw emphatically shut the door on his rivalry with Cody Garbrandt.

After the result, Dillashaw welcomed a challenge by newly crowned flyweight champion Henry Cejudo.

On believing he tore his lateral collateral ligament and broke his foot: "I remember we were scrambling, and I maybe shot, and then he kind of pushed me over, and I rolled over my right knee, and I felt the pop, and I was like, 'There goes the right LCL - fantastic". Another Dillashaw right - it landed more like a clothesline than a punch - had "No Love" teetering on the brink. "Cub Swanson is one of the best and this is the best win of my UFC career", said Moicano.

In the main event moments later, Dillashaw (17-3) exchanged furious strikes with Garbrandt (11-2) from the opening minute.

"I believe I'm the best of all-time at bantamweight", said Dillashaw post-fight. "I felt very disrespected all week, with all of the talk of a super fight so I am standing here now to say that I want the victor of the main event", said Cejudo.

My middle-tier pick this week is Tony Finau, and it honestly shocks me to say "middle-tier" and "Tony Finau" in the same sentence. He could probably take two, three weeks off and he's going to get it around here fine, because he knows how to.

Johnson has reigned as the only flyweight champion in UFC history since claiming the inaugural belt with a split decision victory over Joseph Benavidez at UFC 152, and takes a 14-fight unbeaten streak into Saturday night's bout at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

"I most definitely did [shock the world]", Cejudo said. He now trains out of Los Angeles. "America is all about winners and the victor of this next fight, I want to fight that guy". Dillashaw took his back and rained down some ground-and-pound, but Garbrandt managed to get back up even though he was clearly on auto-pilot at that point. After staggering backward to the fence from a right hand, Garbrandt ate a knee and several punches before the fight was called as he was still standing. He probably has to give a rematch to Demetrious Johnson.

As much as the champion versus champion fight might interest Dillashaw, there are plenty of options available to him in the bantamweight division as well.

Not only did Cejudo shake off the pain of his lower left leg, he relied on his size and grappling ability to begin to build a case on the scorecards in Round 2 by turning a relatively uneventful round in his favor late by pushing the pace and taking Johnson down before using his weight to lay all over him until the horn. "I wanted to beat his right hand with my own and show him who has the real power".
