Luxembourg - Ryanair cancels 600 flights

A strike by Ryanair pilots is set to go ahead on Friday resulting in the cancellation of 24 flights between the Republic of Ireland and the UK.

Next week's strike by cabin crew on Ryanair flights will mean the loss of some 30% of flights to and from Belgium on 25 and 26 July, the airline confirmed.

Thousands of people looking forward to their summer holidays are nervous today as Ryanair have cancelled hundreds of flights due to cabin crew strikes. The Spanish government is struggling to reach an agreement with Ryanair, as the 1,800 cabin crew members are hired under Irish laws.

The airline said that unless the strike had been called off by this evening, it would be forced to cancel 16 flights and added that affected customers would be accommodated by the airline on other flights.

The Spanish government has said the cancellation of the flights is legal, but that it will ask the airline for detailed information regarding the flights so customers can take an informed decision in advance.

Rosenstein defends charging Russians as a deterrent
Rosenstein said Russian Federation has long used malign influence operations to attack the United States and other countries.

"Ryanair sincerely apologises to our customers for these disruptions which we have done our utmost to avoid".

Cabin crew from across Europe published a list of 34 demands on July 4, including "a fair living wage", improved sick pay and employment contracts in their own language based on local rather than Irish law. He said the strikes are "entirely unjustified and will achieve nothing".

The airline has already contacted the affected passengers and said that if customers have not received emails or SMS messages, they should expect to travel as planned.

The staff are unhappy about a range of pay and conditions issues.

The Union has been asking for an improvement in employee terms.
