UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson resigns amid Cabinet's deep divisions over Brexit

Stewart Jackson, former special adviser to David Davis, said No 10 had blocked his reappointment in the role under new Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab.

What has been outlined so far has sparked a backlash from Brexiteers and prompted the resignations of David Davis and Boris Johnson. Johnson said the plan would make it much more hard to do trade deals.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said Mr Johnson and Mr Davis had abandoned a "sinking ship", shattering the "illusion of unity" initially surrounding the Chequers plan.

He added that he'd consider returning to Ukip to fight the Prime Minister's plans.

On Friday, Johnson was praising May for being able to reach a decision on Brexit but just two days later he submitted his resignation.

"The government now has a song to sing", he said.

"I never thought I would say that again, but the government's sell-out leaves me with no choice".

Writing for the Metro, he said: "The departure of two bombastic characters, both of whom have caused constant headaches for Number 10, has forced May into a position that many of her allies have always been urging her to take: one of defiance".

The government said Britain would act "as if in a combined customs territory" with the European Union, using technology at its border to determine whether goods from third countries are bound for Britain or the European Union, and charging the appropriate tariffs in those cases.

May met with Conservative lawmakers in a packed room at Parliament, in a bid to calm the feverish atmosphere in the deeply divided party.

Joe Root has been handed the responsibility of leading England Test side for a year since the 2017 series against South Africa. Laxman also praised the balance of the Indian cricket team , saying that they are good in all three departments of the game.

May's botched bet on a snap election in June 2017 lost her party its majority in parliament so her government is now reliant on a small northern Irish political party.

Trump suggested that his upcoming meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin could be easier than his trip to Europe to see North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders and Mrs May.

"My concern is about the policy rather than the individual", he said.

The UK is due to leave the European Union on 29 March 2019, but the two sides have yet to agree how trade will work between the UK and the EU after that.

Asked about the balloon, Johnson said: "It's really kind of irrelevant to what we're trying to do and it certainly doesn't express the point of view of the British people I've met". Previous year reports emerged that Davis said he meant to "retire" in 2019 and leave the transitional period of Britain's exit from the European Union to Boris Johnson, something later dismissed as a "lighthearted remark".

Government unity began to fray within hours.

Johnson quit with a resignation letter accusing May of flying "white flags" of surrender in negotiations with the European Union.

Boris's resignation letter is scathing.

Boris Johnson warned Monday as he quit as foreign secretary that the Brexit "dream is dying" and Britain is "headed for the status of colony" with its plan to stay close to the EU.

The British public no longer has faith in Theresa May to negotiate Brexit, with two in three saying they do not trust her to get the best possible deal, a Sky Data poll reveals.
