Nuggets deal Faried, Arthur to the Nets

Isaiah Thomas has finally signed with a team.

If that's going to happen, it will occur in Denver, as the Nuggets signed Thomas as an unrestricted free agent, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Thomas also struggled in Los Angeles, and eventually had surgery to fix the hip issue. He was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a swap of star guards in August.

Last summer, the Celtics dealt Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, a 2018 first-round draft pick and a 2020 second-rounder to the Cavaliers for guard Kyrie Irving. Thomas was in MVP contention in his final campaign with Boston, but things went downhill when he injured his hip.

Thomas will reunite with his former coach in Sacramento, Mike Malone, with the Nuggets. With the Cavaliers struggling, however, they dealt Thomas, Channing Frye and a 2018 first-round draft pick to the Los Angeles Lakers on February 8 for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. He was shipped to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he backed up Lonzo Ball, averaging 15.6 points. The last man picked in the 2011 National Basketball Association draft played for Malone in Sacramento during the 2013-14 season and averaged 20.3 points and 6.3 assists as the Kings went 28-54.

As recently as a year ago, Thomas appeared ticketed for a huge payday this summer after starring for the Boston Celtics in the 2016-2017 season and subsequent Eastern Conference playoffs, leading them to the East finals despite dealing with the death of his sister and a hip injury.
