Arsenal sign youngster Guendouzi from Lorient

Arsenal finished a disappointing sixth last season and missed out on a Champions League qualifying spot, with manager Arsene Wenger leaving after nearly 22 years at the club.

France youth worldwide Guendouzi is Emery's fifth signing and follows Switzerland full back Stephan Lichtsteiner, Greece defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, German keeper Bernd Leno and Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery could be left stunned, as north London rivals Tottenham enter the race to sign Andre Gomes from Barcelona.

"The big clubs don't close the [door] or the moment to sign a new player".

"Today, we are okay". We will only sign a player in the next month if he's a big opportunity.

Arsenal begin their pre-season on 14th July while their presence in the International Champions Cup ensures that they will face several high-profile opponents before the big kick-off against Manchester City.

Ramsey has now entered the final year of his current Arsenal deal.

UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson resigns amid Cabinet's deep divisions over Brexit
Johnson quit with a resignation letter accusing May of flying "white flags" of surrender in negotiations with the European Union. He added that he'd consider returning to Ukip to fight the Prime Minister's plans.

"My idea is to know every player and to know, also, the personality of the players".

"I'm very happy with him", Emery added. I know this player here is very important for the supporters, he grew up here at Arsenal.

He can play as a defensive or central midfielder and it is an area that Arsenal have needed to improve upon for a few seasons, and he could partner fellow new signing Torreira in that area.

"It was a tactical and technical decision", he said.

"At the moment, I think the squad is complete", Emery told a prematch news conference ahead of a preseason friendly at Boreham Wood.

'For me, every day, every training session, he has the ambition I want. I want to become part of the club's history and to achieve great things here.

The 19-year-old is viewed as an exciting prospect and it seems Tottenham did the hard work in terms of scouting him and being aware of his talent.
