Wimbledon wont budge on World Cup final clash

The All England Club insists the scheduled time for the Wimbledon men's singles final will not change if England reach the FIFA World Cup final.

Rather than worrying about what kind of disruption the World Cup final might cause to the two Wimbledon finalists, eight-times champion Roger Federer offered a different take on the potential clash. The tennis begins at about 2.10pm with the football kicking off at 4pm.

"I'm more concerned the World Cup final will have issues because the Wimbledon final is going on", Federer joked with the media Monday after he advanced to the quarterfinals at the London Grand Slam for the 16th time in his career.

"They'll hear every point: 'Wow, love-15, 15-30'".

But after Centre Court was left two-thirds empty during England's quarter-final match against Sweden last week, the ban has been negotiated and lifted.

Lewis also confirmed that the big screen at Wimbledon is reserved for tennis, the BBC reports.

The concession will enable Wimbledon-going soccer fans to stream the remaining World Cup matches or check on their progress while watching matches, whether via headphones or silenced.

"People followed the football on their devices thanks to modern technology without disturbing other spectators".

Gareth Southgate: I Couldn't Listen To Three Lions For 20 Years
The England manager has revealed he couldn't bear to hear the football song after missing a penalty in Euro '96. " England are very strong, they have very good individual players".

Lewis is quoted in the Guardian saying: "People get Wimbledon, and we get the balance right".

"That indicates that we are supportive of the World Cup and that we are not turning down the signal strength!"

"I have met Gareth Southgate, he´s a great guy".

Having said all of this, if England are 1-0 up at half-time, you can bet your life that if whoever is in charge of the big screen on Henman Hill doesn't change the channel, they'll be subject to a sustained verbal volley of a ferocity which John McEnroe could only dream of.

"I think it would be huge if we win".

"I saw a few pictures the size of Croatia compared to size of Russian Federation, and I think if we are already to be in semi-finals is unbelievable, but if we can make it further, it´s really good, as well".
