Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez 'on brink of Manchester City move'

Three African players of Algeria internationals Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and Ghana midfielder Daniel Amartey are missing from Leicester City's pre-season training on Monday.

A report claims that Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez will officially become a Manchester City player later this week after Leicester City accepted a £60m offer.

Leicester will receive around £60m for the Algeria worldwide - some way short of their £80m asking price in January.

Mahrez won the PFA Player of the Year award as Leicester won the Premier League in 2015/16 and has stayed with the club when many expected him to leave.

Regardless of being at odds with the Foxes, Mahrez managed to score 13 goals in 41 appearances last season and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola feels that he is the missing cog in his team.

Mahrez will represent another club record transfer for City, breaking the previous mark set when French defender Aymeric Laporte joined from Athletic Bilbao for £57m in January.

But a deal has now been agreed - Sky Sports claim - with a medical lined up in the coming days.

He has been given extra time off by the Foxes after playing in Algeria's global games in June and is due back for training next week.

The 27-year-old said his transfer request had "gone" in May but left his future open.
