A look at Trump's strained Twitter relationship with UK

While no plans for Mr Trump to enjoy a round of golf have been confirmed, a protest will be held outside the president's Balmedie course in Aberdeenshire on Saturday, and it is expected there could be demonstrations around his Turnberry resort too.

Hundreds turned out in January for a demonstration in the city against the Trump administration's move to ban Muslims from seven countries entering the US.

Securing a U.S. -UK deal post-Brexit is something both Trump and May's government have heralded as being a major benefit of leaving the EU.

Given the amount of media coverage the blimp has received ahead of the headline-news Trump visit and protest, the chances of it being missed are very slim.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has given permission for a giant inflatable baby blimp that looks like Trump to fly over the Houses of Parliament during the president's visit. "It's going to be really fun seeing all of these liberals whose world view was shattered back when he was elected in November 2016".

While Trump is expected to have a busy schedule throughout his visit, there is at least one place that he will avoid: central London. "If the president wants to do something, we'll make it possible".

- After the London Bridge terror attack in June a year ago, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said people should not be alarmed by visibly increased security on the streets of the capital.

"We always stand side by side with each other and is this the way you welcome a good friend?" she said. "So I think that symbolises how he considers the importance of her leadership in this country right now".

Mr Khan said he supported the decision taken by the Greater London Authority, adding that it was not for him to be a "censor".

The Trumps will also pay an off-camera visit to a British defence site outside of London.

The Jameson in Hammersmith, southwest London, is changing its name to The Trump Arms to mark the trip and is hosting a welcome party in his honour.

Trump will travel by helicopter once there, making it unlikely he'll see protests firsthand.
