Trump's Mar-a-Lago seeks to hire 61 foreign workers

President Donald Trump's resort, Mar-a-Lago, filed a request to the Department of Labor for 61 additional visas for foreign servers and cooks, according to a Job Order Records filed on Thursday and Friday. The Mar-a-Lago club is just one example, Trump's golf club in NY and Trump Winery in Virginia also hired dozens of foreign workers.

The workers would earn an hourly wage of $12.68 with the possibility of making $19.02 an hour in overtime pay.

In April 2017, Trump signed the "Buy American and Hire American Executive Order", which sought to boost job opportunities for US workers by "rigorously enforcing and administering our immigration laws".

But, apparently, he himself can opt for foreign workers whenever it suits his objective, as a 2016 New York Times report revealed the club has filed for 500 visas for foreign workers through the Department of Labor since 2010.

Yet Trump's businesses have a history of not hiring American.

It suggests Trump can not find a sufficient number of Americans in South Florida to work on the non-specialized jobs.

Trump savors big reveal for court choice
I again, I say this, the base will attack the leadership for this if they allow it to happen and they should. Bush, and his time helping Ken Starr investigate President Bill Clinton, may mean Kavanaugh is passed over.

Nonprofit placement agency CareerSource Palm Beach County told The Palm Beach Post that there were many Americans eager to work at Mar-a-Lago, and that they agency has a database last November of 5,136 qualified candidates for "various hospitality positions". The Dana Farber Cancer Institute received a $100,000 donation the year before it hosted a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago in 2011, then received two more large donations in 2014 and 2015.

The resort made a similar request earlier this year, filing for 70 visas for restaurant staff as well as housekeepers in January.

Trump defended the practice of hiring foreign workers, telling MSNBC's "Morning Joe" it "is very hard to get people in Florida for seasonal jobs".

It appears President Donald Trump can not find any Americans willing and able to hold jobs at his favorite weekend getaway: Mar-a-Lago Club.

The Post found a pattern that showed $25,000 donations were typically given to a charity by the Trump Foundation after an event was relocated to Mar-a-Lago from a different venue.
