PlayStation slammed over Fortnite bungle

When Fortnite released on Switch earlier this week it was a big deal for fans of the battle royale title. A new Yoshi game is certainly something we can't wait to get our hands on, so it'll be great to finally hear a title or at least new screens and details about what we can expect from the new Switch adventure.

Microsoft and Nintendo bosses chime in on the backlash Sony has received over the Fortnite kerfuffle. Unfortunately, that doesn't help the 2 million people that downloaded Fortnite on the Switch in it first 24 hours of release.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime made a decision to weigh in on the situation at E3, saying that his company has no problem with cross-play against competing console systems.

Of course, the game is ridiculously popular on every other platform. No such restrictions are in place if you have played the game on Xbox One, PC, or mobile.

The game uses an Epic Games account for this, but there are certain limitations.

Gamers learned that if they try to access their Fortnite account on a Switch, after previously playing on the PlayStation, they would be locked out. When they tried to log into Epic Games account, which they used on their PlayStation, all were unable to carry across their progress, or in fact anything, to their Switch.

Justin Trudeau's approval rating increased after spat with Donald Trump
Trump was reacting to Trudeau's having called United States steel and aluminum tariffs insulting to Canada. The tariffs are something the minister has called "absurd" and "illegal".

To say fans were excited that Fortnite for the Switch launched during E3 would be an understatement.

Both Nintendo and Microsoft allow Fortnite cross-play, which gives Sony's major console rivals a key selling point if Sony doesn't reverse its position.

"We're always open to hearing what the PlayStation community is interested in to enhance their gaming experience", a Sony spokesperson said. "You have companies like mine that encourage cross-play and enable cross-play". Either way, this past week hasn't been smooth sailing for the platform holder.

More information on the upcoming Fortnite World Cup will be available soon, including "rules, player codes of conduct, specifics about platforms and the Fall 2018 schedule".

"I get the business side of it, and I'm not going to judge anybody else making their decisions because they've got to run their business..."

Regardless of your affiliation with the gaming industry, there is a good chance that you have heard of the phenomenon known as Fortnite that has seemingly become a worldwide sensation, for lack of a better term.
