Shy teen earns Golden Buzzer with soulful performance on ‘America’s Got Talent’

Nerves certainly didn't get the best of 13-year-old Courtney Hadwin as she auditioned on America's Got Talent. Channeling her inner Janis Joplin, the young singer delivered a memorable performance that left a huge impression on the judges, especially Simon Cowell.

Before hitting the "America's Got Talent" stage, Hadwin previously competed on "The Voice Kids UK", where she made it to the final rounds of competition.

The youngster appeared quite nervous when talking to the judges before her performance but came into her element when she started singing Otis Redding classic Hard to Handle.

When the song ended she got a standing ovation, much to her dad's delight, who was watching with host Tyra Banks from backstage.

First she was on "Ellen", then on NBC's "Little Big Shots". "You're from a whole different era", said Howie Mandel.

With Hadwin headed straight through to the live shows, she's one step closer to that million-dollar prize.

And the young talent is no stranger to the limelight of TV, having already stared in the ITV's The Voice Kids past year.

America's Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
