Paul Skyscraper Sets Off Social Media Firestorm

The raccoon who caught the attention of thousands around the world as he climbed a skyscraper in St. Paul, Minnesota, is now safe.

Initial speculation was that the raccoon climbed to a lower part of the building, frequented by pigeons, in search of bird eggs.

The adventure-turned-internet-sensation started when MPR reporters saw the raccoon trapped on an overhang near the bottom of a building near their office.

At the 23rd floor, it stopped for a nap, allowing time for more photos. The raccoon, animal-control authorities said, will be trapped and aided upon reaching the roof.

This little guy had legions of social media users anxious for his safety after scaling the UBS Tower in St. Paul, Minn., but all is well.

Evan Frost and Tim Nelson, journalists with Minnesota Public Radio (MPR), documented the raccoon's nerve-wracking journey on Twitter.

Trump declares the North Korea nuclear threat is over
Best case scenario is the two sides start talking, North Korea decides the U.S.is no longer a threat and scales back its arsenal. North Korea and South Korea have the most riding on a peace deal, but China, which is next door, is probably next in line.

"The best option is leaving it alone and hoping it will make it to the top in the evening", she said.

According to mprnews.com, people also gathered on the street Tuesday to watch the raccoon and the efforts to help it.

"We have seen him pace back and forth and sniff, but he hasn't moved", said attorney Sheila Donnelly-Coyne.

A parody Twitter account for the little climber tweeted about his accomplishments and thanked his fans after he got to the top of the building. Finally, at 2:30am on Wednesday, the hero raccoon reached the summit of the building and scampered off happily to find a waiting meal. Concerned that the raccoon had become trapped, Twitter users called for a host of inventive solutions, including sending up a hot air balloon to take the raccoon to safety.

It was first spotted on a ledge Tuesday morning, just a few storeys high.
