Nearly bezelless Vivo NEX comes with pop-up camera

The one slight disappointment is that the 6.59-inch Super AMOLED screen only has an FHD+ resolution, most likely 2160×1080. The Vivo NEX smartphones come in Diamond Black and Red colors.

On the back, the Vivo Nex features a dual camera setup comprising a 12MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 5MP f/2.4 shooter that helps provide depth information.

As for the rest of the specs, the Vivo NEX has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, an Adreno 630 graphics processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 4,000mAh battery and a (slightly disappointing) dual 12/5-megapixel camera on the back. The Vivo NEX Ultimate is fitted with 3 generation under-screen fingerprint sensor that is not only 10 percent faster, but also 50 percent more accurate.

Oh, I nearly forgot an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Time will tell if this will also be the case with the Vivo Nex.

Without a notch, Vivo had to make several engineering upgrades to allow users to receive calls and take selfies, since neither a speaker or camera are on the front of the phone. One of the most interesting new feature in the Vivo Nex S and Nex A is the Screen SoundCasting technology. Further, the Vivo NEX also features 7.1-channel 3D audio, thanks to dtsX partnership. In any case, it should be an improvement over the company's previous devices which sported in-display fingerprint scanners.

Vivo NEX and its elevating camera are now official

Internationally, the Vivo NEX featuring Snapdragon 710 SoC is known as Vivo NEX A. The 128 GB and 256 GB NEX Ultimate variants are internationally known as Vivo NEX and Vivo NEX S.

The phone's pièce de résistance is the retractable 8MP front camera. Vivo says it used AI techniques to improve scene recognition, HDR, and photo composition, though this may be just another example of companies abusing the term "AI". At the front there's an 8-megapixel camera.

The Nex will launch in China, and availability hasn't yet been confirmed for other markets. There is a dedicated button beside the camera that triggers the voice assistant on the long-press action. It aims to provide an immersive gaming experience based on software and hardware optimization and is also optimised to run games made using Unreal Engine.

Best of all, there is still a headphone jack on the Nex.

Based on the launch, the Vivo NEX that is equipped with the Snapdragon 710 chipset will be priced at RMB3839 (~RM2394) while the Vivo NEX equipped with the Snapdragon 845 will be priced at RMB4498 (~RM2805) and RMB4998 (~RM3117) for the 128GB variant and 256GB variant respectively.

The OEM said that the device will go up for pre-order tomorrow on June 13 and will be available in offline stores on June 23.
