Kyrie Irving says signing contract extension with Boston Celtics doesn't make sense

Kyrie Irving is playing coy about the possibility of reuniting with his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James next season in Boston. While these reports are just talk at this point, while Irving was in Cleveland, he had expressed interest in going to NY to play for the Knicks on multiple occasions. "We'll see what happens".

Kyrie Irving #11 of the Boston Celtics handles the ball against the Denver Nuggets on December 13, 2017 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

Green Teamers were some of the first to chide James when he evacuated Dan Gilbert's dumpster fire for Miami that summer, only to see James put the nail in the Big Three's coffin with a gentleman's sweep of the Celtics in 2011 and a 45-point coming-out party in the Garden in a career-defining Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals a year later.

It's been a whirlwind of a calendar year for Celtics superstar Kyrie Irving. "You try to focus on what's important, what we need for going into next year, how being aware of who we have now, what we're capable of, the things that we need to kind of fix or get done, and go from there".

The Celtics expect Irving to be fully healthy for training camp in September. I'd been talking about how great they were.

Warriors' Kevin Durant can picture retiring at 35
Considered a basketball lifer, Durant had aspirations to be a professional basketball player since he was 8 years old. An odd thing happened at the Golden State Warriors' championship parade Tuesday.

Irving said his backup, Terry Rozier, proved he's an National Basketball Association starter but that "turns into an unbelievable dynamic" for Boston next season. Some of their numbers particularly probably didn't look as appealing to the outside looker, but they were always locked in.

"That's the type of attitude and effort you love to be a part of", he said.

There will nearly certainly be hot take artists who read that from Irving and do the "he's not committed to the team" nonsense that we've come to expect out of radio hosts and columnists from the otherwise great city of Boston. And of course our anchor Al (Horford) and now getting my man Gordon (Hayward) back. I'm excited. What makes it even more exciting and the challenge is now we have championship pedigree. "Our young guys [have experience] that sometimes other young guys in the league aren't necessarily afforded".

Kyrie Irving is pondering that - and a movie release and his future and LeBron's next Decision.
