Trump, Kim Jong Un sign 'comprehensive' document, vague on specific details

The first-ever meeting of a sitting USA president and a leader of North Korea launched hopes for a peace deal for the divided Korean Peninsula, a formal end of the 1950-53 Korean War, and an agreement that Pyongyang scales back or dismantle its nuclear programme.

Neither man smiled as they walked towards each other and grasped each others hand and then turned towards the cameras.

"We had a really fantastic meeting, a lot of progress, very positive", Trump said. They sat across the table from Kim and his team. "It was not easy to get here", he said through his translator.

On Tuesday morning, Pompeo fed the mounting anticipation of diplomatic breakthrough, saying: "We're ready for today". "The world will see a major change". The talks could also bring an end to the nearly the seven-decade-old Korean War.

After initial exchanges lasting around 40 minutes, Trump and Kim emerged, walking side-by-side through the colonnaded hotel before entering a meeting room, where they were joined by their most senior officials.

Drama surrounding the event heightened in the hours before the leaders greeted each other, as the two sides shifted their schedules.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. President", Kim was overheard telling Trump.

But North Korea's complete denuclearization is "the only outcome that the United States will accept", Pompeo said, and sanctions will not be lifted until that happens.

"It's interesting because we believe Kim speaks English - he was educated in Switzerland and speaks German, but Trump seems to be the only one talking during their bit of chit chat", Professor Hajek told Yahoo7.

Net neutrality ends; internet as we know it could change
In January, attorneys general in 22 states and the District of Columbia filed a protective petition for review of the order. Opponents say this gives Internet providers the power to block competitors and new technologies.

Trump also tweeted: "Meetings between staffs and representatives are going well and quickly ... but in the end, that doesn't matter". Donald Trump then guided Kim Jong-un to the library where the one-on-one meeting was to take place. "We will be fine!"

"T$3 he whole territory of the U.S.is within range of our nuclear strike", Kim said in his speech.

Rodman grew emotional in the interview as he recalled former President Barack Obama failing to take him seriously when he returned from Pyongyang with a message from Kim after one of his trips.

The Trump administration seeks the complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantling of the North's nuclear weapons program.

In a briefing with reporters Monday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo did not set a threshold for whether there's any terms than North Korea would have to agree to beyond committing to further discussions that would make the summit a success.

Pompeo said the U.S.is prepared to offer "unique" security guarantees to North Korea to ensure that eliminating its nuclear weapons won't end badly for Kim's regime.

The summit has drawn thousands of journalists to the Asia city-state.

It was a striking about-face from less than a year ago, when Trump was threatening "fire and fury" against Kim, who in turn scorned the American president as a "mentally deranged USA dotard".

"Today we had a historic meeting and chose to leave the past behind", the North Korean leader said.
