Gosling as Neil Armstrong in First Full Trailer for Chazelle's 'First Man'

That's the pitch for Ryan Gosling's latest cinematic adventure as the versatile actor steps into the especially famous shoes of Neil Armstrong; the first man to walk on the surface of the moon.

Chazelle (Whiplash) and Gosling (Blade Runner 2049) are teaming up again following the smashing success of the 2016 musical La La Land for the film based on James Hansen's biography "First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrong". The biopic will be set between 1961 and 1969, depicting the years leading up to NASA's Apollo 11 mission. The skit on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" is included here.

Other stars in the film include Kyle Chandler, Pablo Schreiber and Jason Clarke. Ryan Gosling fills the role of Armstrong in the film, with Emmy-winning The Crown actress Claire Foy playing Armstrong's wife Janet.

Universal Pictures has released the first poster for First Man, giving hopefuls an up-close-and-personal look at Gosling as Armstrong.

All the way through, Armstrong is confident of his mission, while those around him are not as certain.

One reporter asks him his thoughts of how he would go down in history for his achievement, "if this flight is successful". "You're not just going to work".

"There are risks, but we have every intention of coming back".

"First Man" was written by Josh Singer ("Spotlight") and Nicole Perlman ("Guardians of the Galaxy"), and also stars Patrick Fugit, Ciaran Hinds, Ethan Embry, and Shea Whigham.
