Salmonella outbreak linked to pre-cut melons — CDC

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), and local health departments are working closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and public health and regulatory officials in several states to investigate a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Adelaide linked to consumption of cut melons.

Caito Foods is voluntarily recalling fresh cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and fresh-cut mixed fruit containing one of these melons, produced at the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis.

People are urged not to eat pre-cut melons purchased from any Walmart or Kroger store in OH, or in any other affected states.

Walmart and Kroger have removed all cut melon associated with the outbreak. If you have eaten a contaminated pre-cut melon and experience diarrhea, fever and cramps go see a doctor immediately.

Special counsel Mueller indicts Manafort, Russian associate on obstruction charges
It's not clear exactly what Manafort knows, but he does appear to be a linchpin between Trump's campaign and Russian Federation . Besides the president or his family, there is perhaps no bigger fish in the Russian Federation investigation than Manafort.

The investigation into the outbreak is expanding rapidly.

In Illinois, cases are happening in people between the ages of 23 and 87 across the state. Symptoms of salmonella include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after being exposed to the bacteria. The elderly, infants and people with compromised immune systems have the highest risk for serious illness.

So far all the illnesses in Missouri have been traced to melon purchased at Walmart stores, but the CDC said the investigation is ongoing and the alert may expand to include other chains. Fruit should not touch raw meat.
