Yesterday, the rupee had gained 27 paise at 67.80 against the USA currency on suspected RBI intervention to stem further fall in the domestic currency.

The election results not only dampened the equity market sentiments but also dragged the Indian rupee down by 56 paise to close at its 15-month low of 68.08 against the U.S. dollar from its previous close at 67.52 per greenback.

It has been in a virtual free fall for the Indian unit which settled a hairs breadth below its intra-day low of 68.15 a dollar.

Apart from political uncertainty in Karnataka, a weak trend in other Asian bourses following overnight losses at the Wall Street dampened sentiments, brokers said.

A New Music Streaming Service, YouTube Music, Is Coming Soon
Cohen and Fowler also emphasized that Tuesday's rollout will be a soft launch and the service will develop over the coming weeks. YouTube Music will launch on 22nd May alongside a redesigned mobile app featuring thousands of playlists and millions of songs.

Even the broadly subdued Asian indices and the disappointing macro-economic inflation data points released on Monday dented investor sentiments.

Indian shares ended lower on Friday, as financial stocks fell with Punjab. Syndicate Bank share price also dropped 12 percent after it reported a net loss of Rs 2,195.12 crore in the last quarter ended March 31, due to high bad loans that required higher provisioning. The stock now has a 52-week low of 181 and high of 303.

Meanwhile, HUL, Lupin, ITC gained about two to three percent.

Shares that lost the most include Hero MotoCorp, ICICI Bank, SBI, Adani Ports, RIL, ONGC, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto, M&M, Coal India, IndusInd Bank, NTPC and Bharti Airtel, falling by up to 3.27 per cent. The major losers were Hindalco Industries, BPCL and Tata Steel. Gammon Infrastructure Projects advanced 20 percent as private sector lender ICICI Bank acquired almost 18 percent stake in the company through invocation of pledged shares.

The key Indian equity indices traded in the negative territory on Thursday afternoon due to weakness in the global markets along with persistent rise in crude oil prices.
