Kristen Stewart flouts footwear ban at Cannes Film Festival

She posed on the red carpet for the Blackkklansman screening in a stylish pair of black Christian Louboutin stilettos and once her photos were done, she made a decision to take her heels off and walk barefooted on the red carpet.

Kristen Stewart ditched her heels on the way to "BlacKkKlansman" premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

The acclaimed Puerto Rican actor Benicio del Toro joined Palestinians at the Cannes Film Festival Tuesday in a protest against the Israeli army's killing of Palestinians on the Gaza border.

"If [a man and I] were walking the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said, 'Excuse me, young lady, you're not wearing heels". She told the outlet that the hosts and hostesses were reminded that there is no rule stating that a woman's heels must be a certain height. It's just like you simply can not ask me to do something that you are not asking him [to do].

She once again addressed the issue in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2017, "There's definitely, like, a distinct dress code, right?"

Emily Blunt also protested this rule and spoke out against it saying that everyone should wear flats and shouldn't wear heels. "People get upset if you don't wear shoes with heels..."

Cannes festival confirmed that it is compulsory for women to walk the red carpet in heel shoes.

The high split of her gown allowed her to show off her lean legs, which were elongated by a pair of silver heels.

Away from the footwear controversy, the screening attended by Kristen Stewart proved to be a success story at Cannes.

The film, starring John David Washington, Adam Driver and Topher Grace, is set in the early 1970s and follows the fortunes of Ron Stallworth.
