Karolina Pliskova Hits Umpire's Chair With Racket After Loss

Karolina Pliskova Hits Umpire's Chair With Racket After Loss

Former world No 1 Karolina Pliskova unleashed on the umpire's chair after her controversial defeat to Greece's Maria Sakkari at the Italian Open on Wednesday (Thursday NZ time).

At 5-5 in the match-deciding set, Pliskova overhead smashed a slow-dropping ball for what she assumed was a winning point.

Pliskova was served at 30-all with the final set deadlocked at 5-5 and went on to lose the match very much based on that decision.

Pliskova's twin sister Kristyna took to Twitter to defend her, claiming Mrozinska as the "worst she has ever seen" and hoped that she would "never referee" a match involving herself or her sister. She then hit her racquet against the umpire's chair "several times", USA Today reports, leaving a gaping hole.

In the USA there was a mass murder, killing small children
Investigators said they were not looking for a suspect and were treating the shootings as a murder-suicide investigation. Ponder ISD said it had no students or staff listed at the home's address nor any absences that would raise alarms.

No fine has been announced, and messages left with the Women's Tennis Association were not immediately returned.

On social media some tennis fans think Pliskova should be suspended while others say that the umpire and line judge should face action.

She argued with the umpire on several occasions during the match about points that went out of her favour and calls that were obviously wrong when shown on replay.

"Nothing justifies destroying the umpire's chair".
