Five takeaways from the Trump Tower transcripts

During the private meeting, the Committee members heard testimony from the former Director of national intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of the NSA Mike Rogers. "I made a flip remark", he told Patrick Davis, a senior counsel for the Committee.

It has fueled speculation about possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia and is believed to be of interest to special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian meddling in the election.

This is key because Trump Jr. wasn't completely clear about what he was talking about. The transcripts appeared to show that Don Jr. was hungry for damaging information on Donald Trump's political rival, Hillary Clinton, but that the Russians had nothing of use.

The transcripts also reflect an aggressive Russian outreach to Trump before and after the NY meeting, including an effort to arrange a follow-up get-together that November with a member of the transition team.

The follow-up overture is one of the kernels of new information contained in more than 2,000 pages of testimony and exhibits released by the committee, which has been conducting one of the investigations into the Trump campaign's contacts with Russians. They show that Trump Jr. says he doesn't remember ever discussing the Russian Federation investigation at all with his father. The documents are long and boring and provide little in the way of definitive answers as to whether the Trump campaign successfully colluded with the Russians to sway the 2016 election, - or whether Donald Trump and his associates are simply just corrupt goons who make everything they touch seem sketchy.

CNN said that the transcripts had no information in them that would "change the course of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Trump's team and Russian Federation".

The lawyers are "concerned because it links Don officials from Russian Federation - which he has always denied meeting", Goldstone wrote in an email to Emin Agalarov.

Seventeen minutes after Goldstone sent his e-mail, Trump, Jr., replied: "Thanks Rob I appreciate that".

Trump Jr. deflected multiple questions during the interview, including whether he discussed the Russian Federation probe with his father. The president's son ultimately released a series of his emails that revealed the Trump team was seeking dirt on Hillary Clinton as reporters pieced together the story and pressed meeting participants for details.

Perhaps the biggest one: what President Donald Trump knew about the meeting and when he was told about it.

Palace returned after half-time with renewed intent, when Loftus-Cheek and Van Aanholt began to impressively combine. The Eagles are unbeaten in their last five games, winning three games and picking up 11 points.

"I believed it was a bad idea and that we shouldn't do it".

However, tucked into a 375-page interview with Rob Goldstone, the British music publicist who set up the meeting between the Trump campaign and Veselnitskaya at the request of the his client, the Russian pop singer Emin Agalarov, and his oligarch father Aras Agalarov, is the most succinct, weird display of Donald Trump's love of his own name I have ever encountered.

About six months later, just after the Trump Tower meeting, Goldstone reiterated his offer in an email to Trump Jr., Scavino and Graff. Veselnitskaya declined to be interviewed, but provided written answers to questions.

An attendee of the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting told congressional investigators he was "concerned" about discussing negative information about Hillary Clinton.

One of suspicions is if he came from his parent a call from a secret number he received after speaking with Emin Agalarov, Russian musical star linked to lawyer and who promoted meeting.

"I don't even know for sure who these Russian people were", Goldstone wrote in an apology email shortly after the meeting.

Donald Trump acknowledging that his father may have been involved in drafting a press statement a year ago that attempted to explain a June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower with a Russian attorney.

But Trump Jr.'s shifting explanations had complicated the task.

The Senate committee's findings clash with the House GOP's determination that the intelligence community did not follow its own best practices in concluding the Kremlin favored Trump in the election. Trump Jr. said it was such a waste of time that he never bothered to inform his father.
