HTC is making a blockchain friendly phone called the 'Exodus'

HTC has announced that it is now working on a new Android device that will be powered, in part, by blockchain technology.

So far, only Sirin Labs has been able to come very close to the launch of the world's first blockchain phone.

Introduced and led by Phil Chen, a co-founder of HTC Vive, the Exodus is meant to be the "world's first phone dedicated to decentralized applications and security".

The phone, revealed by The Next Web, is called Exodus. "With the release of the HTC Exodus we can now make this a reality".

The new Exodus smartphone will support both Bitcoin and Ethereum as well as other cryptocurrencies with its universal wallet, secure hardware, and decentralized apps. "We would like to support the entire blockchain ecosystem, and in the next few months we'll be announcing many more exciting partnerships together". It is also unknown if the device will be retailed in territories outside of the US.

Federal research says California solar mandate could increase housing prices
The regulations include exceptions for when solar panels aren't cost-effective or feasible, such as on a home shrouded in shade. More than 5 million homes in the state use solar power, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association.

Though no additional specs, pricing or even confirmation that the HTC Exodus would run Android, HTC has opened up a reservation form for those interested in a blockchain friendly phone. Chen, who now holds the title of "chief decentralized officer", will head all of the firm's cryptocurrency and blockchain-related initiatives.

The unique selling point of a blockchain smartphone is that it supposedly offers better security and an improved user experience by integrating cold wallet storage right into the device, and enabling direct trading of the native cryptocurrency with peers without mining fees. Similarly, there's no set release date beyond "by the end of the year".

In terms of specifications, the Finney blockchain phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.

Huawei is also reportedly considering the technology for one of its future devices. Speaking of cryptocurrency, HTC is thinking about allowing the phone to be purchased using digital currencies.
