Motorola foldable smartphone release on track with patent approval

Microsoft intends to join two screens producing one image which could be as a phone, tablet as a well as a laptop that will enable rotation of up to 360 degrees.

Folding phones and tablets will likely be the next big thing in the personal tech domain, with manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, and Huawei all said to be working on their own foldable handsets. While the hinge is expected to maintain stability for the whole device, the screen itself will fold both inwards and outwards along with the hinge.

ZTE uses two screens in its folding Axon M phone, but how about a folding device that uses three?

Discovered by Netherlands-based website LetsGoDigital, the sketches that are part of the patent filing show a device with a large screen and a hinge running vertically down the middle.

Motorola patented a foldable smartphone that when extended would transform into a tablet, and by the looks of the drawings found over at the World Intellectual Property Organization the hinge would have a similar design to that of the Lenovo YOGA Android tablet.

Everything you need to know about the new look Gmail
There is no option to change the phone number; if it is wrong, you can not open the email and it will expire eventually unread. The new Gmail launched with a slew of new features last month, and Google announced that more were on the way.

A few years back, Samsung came up with the concept of foldable smartphones, we are yet to come across any yet. We're referring to devices with actual foldable or flexible displays.

What's not as common are devices with three displays, but a new Microsoft patent shows off the possibility, and the display is not in what might be considered a typical position as it's located on the device's hinge.

"With the new technology, especially foldable screens, I think you will see more and more innovation on our smartphone design". However, if the company is actually still working on the phone, the key feature that will set it apart from other manufacturer's foldable phone patents will be the case cover with wireless charging support. As could be seen in the patent, which can be viewed here, the hinge of the Surface Phone would display relevant information based on how the device is being used.

It is worth noting that Microsoft filed the patent on November 9, 2016.

There is no mention yet when Lenovo-Motorola will reveal a working foldable phone.
