Leader calls on Muslim to focus on unity, scientific advancement

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks while receiving a number of participants at the International Congress on the Role of Shia in the Advent and Advancement of Islamic Sciences.

Speaking at the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei said that "awakening" has already happened in the Muslim world and paved the way for further interest in Islam and a better future, despite the undermining efforts by the West.

Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, was seen checking out a translated copy of "Fire and Fury" - Michael Wolff's tell-all about the Trump administration - at the Tehran International Book Fair Friday.

The Leader also stressed that scientific advancement is one of the most important and much-needed issues in the Muslim world, adding that the main reason behind the Muslim world's subordination is its scientific backwardness.

"After centuries of scientific stagnation, the Western world could increase its wealth and political, military and scientific power and at the end create the current situation in the Islamic countries through colonization", the Leader regretted.

"The scientific movement in the Muslim world should gain momentum and the Ummah must once again rise towards the peak of its scientific and civilizational capabilities", the Leader said on Saturday.

The Leader went on to say that Iran is on the path to scientific progress and this can serve as a successful example for other Muslim nations.

Contrary to the West, Ayatollah Khamenei said, Iran is ready to provide other Muslim countries with its scientific achievements.
