Aston Martin DB11 AMR revealed

Pricing for the 2019 Aston Martin DB11 AMR starts at $241,000.

Of the DB11 AMR Aston Martin CEO, Andy Palmer said: "Since its initial launch back in 2016 the DB11 range has matured rapidly and intelligently, selling close to 4,200 V12 examples in that period".

Replacing the two-year-old DB11 V12, which accounts for 40% of annual DB11 sales, the DB11 AMR gets an uprated twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre powerplant that develops 630bhp at 6500rpm and 516lb ft at 1500rpm.

Not only does that ensure the hottest DB11 now has 127bhp of breathing space compared with the entry-level AMG V8-powered auto, it also provides the DB11 AMR with muscle to worry its archrivals, including the 626bhp Bentley Continental GT W12 and 621bhp V12 Mercedes-AMG S65. A new shift calibration for the transmission and a slightly more vocal exhaust note ensures the DB11 AMR expresses its character more explicitly when Sport mode is engaged.

All of the standard DB11 brightwork now gets a monochrome treatment, including the dark headlight surrounds, smoked tail lamps and darkened front grille and tailpipes.

The AMR can be picked out from lesser DB11s by its numerous styling changes. The upgrade comes as Aston attempts to accentuate the difference between the V12 model and the recently introduced V8 DB11.
