Amazon reportedly working on personal robots for your home

The company is now working on yet another huge bet: home robots.

Amazon is moving one more step ahead in building tech products for homes, with an ambitious plan to design and build a line of robots codenamed "Vesta".

Citing unnamed sources, the reports said that the Vesta would be like a mobile Alexa, helping customers in parts of their home where they do not have Echo devices. Vesta's development began a few years ago and is has been handled by Lab126, also responsible for the Echo speakers, Fire TV boxes, Fire tablets and the Fire Phone.

The project is being developed by Lab126, the hardware research and development division of Amazon that operates out of Sunnyvale in California.

An Amazon spokesperson told media that the company doesn't comment on "rumors and speculation".

Queen steals show at her 92nd birthday celebrations
Charles capped off the evening by raising cheers for his mum, and the way he called her a personal name had the crowd laughing. The queen has led the disparate group, made up of Britain and its former colonies, since she took the throne in 1952.

The "Vesta" project is likely named after the Roman goddess of home and the hearth, as a continuation of Amazon's running theme of developing family-oriented devices for domestic use.

The concept of Vesta came some years back but it's only this year that the company started hiring in preparation for the roll out. But seriously, the company is taking its virtual assistant, Alexa, to the next level by putting her into a robot for the home. The prototypes of the robot have been made with cameras as well as computer-supported vision software and are able to navigate through homes just like driverless cars.

The report says that prototypes of the robots have advanced cameras and computer vision software, navigating though houses like a self-driving auto.

In the near future, commands like "turn off the lights in the living room" will make sense to a home robot that knows where the switches are, and how to get there on its own.
