Lambert admits West Ham equaliser 'is a blow'

West Ham United are under no impression that they are safe in the Premier League but a victory against Stoke City will greatly improve their chances of staying in the top flight, defender Arthur Masuaku said.

"Wear them down, get the goals late on but the game changed when they got the goal".

Meanwhile, Stoke chief, Paul Lambert, said: "If we'd got the three points, I thought we'd deserved something from the game anyway".

Lambert reflected afterwards: 'It is a blow because we were so close to winning. I couldn't ask for any more from my players'.

In this topsy-turvy, nervy season it was left to players who have seen it all, who know how to take their chances under pressure, to save face.

"We got him back at the start of the week so we will keep monitoring him. A win on Sunday would really set the cat among the pigeons".

West Ham manager David Moyes could be boosted by the return from injury of Andy Carroll, James Collins and Manuel Lanzini.

Will Reuben Foster be welcome at 49ers offseason program?
Investigators said the alleged assault by Foster left his live-in girlfriend bruised and with a ruptured ear drum. The 49ers open offseason workouts on Monday.

It couldn't have come at a worse time with national team boss Gareth Southgate watching from the stands in east London.

Stoke City starting XI: Butland; Zouma, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters; Allen, Ndiaye; Bauer, Shaqiri, Sobhi; Diouf.

Chances were far and few in the opening stanza, however, Stoke keeper Jack Butland made a massive stop in the first half on Marko Arnautovic when the ball struck the face of the England global. The couple have been targeted since the Northumberland official, who was on duty at West Ham last night (above), gave Real Madrid a disputed penalty from which they knocked out Juventus in last week's Champions League quarter-final.

Police have warned social media trolls they could be committing a criminal offence by abusing referee Michael Oliver and his wife Lucy.

Their goal killed us... it would have been vital three points, a lifeline.

First, Arnautovic converted Aaron Cresswell's cross, but he had strayed marginally offside.

West Ham have only won back-to-back Premier League games at the London Stadium on one previous occasion back in December 2016.
