Konami Just Announced 'Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls' for iOS Devices in Japan

The record-breaking Kickstarter game is due out this year, although not much as been heard of it in a while and it doesn't have a specific release date.

It all seems quite promising, but if you're desperate for a new Castlevania on consoles there is Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night from ex-Konami dev Koji "IGA" Igarashi.

Castlevania lives, but not on consoles, as Konami reveals the surprisingly interesting-looking iOS game Grimoire Of Souls.

The game will also introduce new characters to the game and while there is no mention, it appears that it could be a free-to-play title with the possibility of microtransactions, which in today's mobile gaming landscape hardly comes as a surprise.

However, with a letter that arrived under Araki Gensui, an end was going to be struck in the peaceful era. Protagonist Genya Arikado soon receives a letter that declares "The Grimoire has run wild and Count Dracula will be resurrected", so he sets off straight for the sender.

Castlevania returns as a mobile game called Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls.

With this, the Lauryn Hill sampled smash becomes the 30th song to debut at the top spot of the Hot 100 chart. On Monday (April 16), the rap star hopped on Instagram to make the big announcement by way of photo.

The game supports multiplayer, and it includes several features like the ability to revive the dead, co-op boss battles with four players, four vs four competitive battles, collectible music from the series, and a new story featuring Dracula. I get that. But a well done side-scrolling Castlevania title for Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One would do incredible well I assume.

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls will be available for iOS.

The closed beta for Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls will begin around mid-May. You can sign up for the beta on the game's website.
