Constand Testifies For Nearly Two Hours in Cosby Trial

Andrea Constand's mother Gianna took the witness stand next.

Gianna Constand said she was "very combative" with Cosby, demanding he tell her the medication he'd given her daughter and what he'd done to her. The former Temple University basketball administrator was later released from the stand after almost two days of questioning.

Gianna Constand, mother of Andrea Constand, after testifying at Bill Cosby's sex-assault retrial in Norristown, Pa. on April 16, 2018. She claimed she needed to understand precisely what Cosby had contributed Andrea, prompting him to confess it absolutely was a perscription drug that he neglected to call and perhaps not the allergy medicine Benadryl advertising he maintained.

In the call, played during court, he did reference mailing the label on the bottle of pills he had given to Andrea Constand before the alleged assault so her mother would know what he gave her.

She also insisted she doesn't know a key defense witness who plans to testify that she spoke of making false accusations against a celebrity to make money.

Cosby's defense used its cross-examination to try to hint that her daughter was having money problems at Temple and using Cosby for his connections, rather than contest the story Gianna Constand told the prosecution of how Cosby confessed to her in a phone call he was a "dirty man" who improperly touched her daughter.

Mesereau hasn't set off many of fireworks yet, but in more than two hours of cross examination on Friday the veteran trial lawyer had Constand flustered with questions about whether she'd ever said she was affectionate toward Cosby, and a line of attack centred on her involvement in a Ponzi scheme.

Yesterday, under questioning by Mesereau, Constand denied knowing Jackson, rooming with her or ever speaking to her.

What was the accuser's relationship with Cosby?

The protection stated she drove 4 hours to see him in a match invested late evenings in the home of the comedian and called him on Valentine's Day, roughly a month immediately after the alleged attack.

Constand says she felt a duty to answer Cosby's inquiries since he was an alumnus and trustee.

Mesereau clawed back, making clear to jurors that Constand's answers have varied on the date of the alleged assault, how often she dined out with Cosby, whether she made a point of wearing a cashmere sweater he gifted her to one of their meetings and where she wound up when she visited his room at a CT casino.

He has been charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault; a conviction on any of the charges could get him 10 years in prison.

The 80-year-old comedian walked through heavy rain into the suburban Philadelphia courthouse under a large black umbrella held by his spokesman. He says he's thankful to the doctors who diagnosed the tear and performed the laser procedure on his left eye without disrupting the trial schedule.

His face remained animated throughout the afternoon - growing wide-eyed at the mention of his own penis, shaking his head as lawyers quibbled and openly chuckling when judge Steven O'Neill allowed a question through, saying "it's not that leading".

Mesereau, in his cross-examination of Constand, asked her about inconsistencies in her statements to police about the alleged assault.

Constand denied telling a defense witness almost 13 years ago she was hatching a plot to extort money from a celebrity, but Constand went even further than that, denying that she even knew Marguerite Jackson.

In many cases, she said she was only returning his calls, perhaps to alert him to a basketball game, and that her contacts were not evidence of any romance.

Mesereau said Constand told police in 2005 that she called Cosby from her university-issued cellphone just before she arrived at his house on the night of the alleged assault to ensure the gate would be open.

On Monday, the protection also attempted to throw Constand as an enthusiast who acted by showing interest in the long-married Cosby. She has testified that she saw the former TV star as a mentor and had no romantic interest in him. Mr Cosby's defence asked her.

Constand said she often reached him and also she may have already been mistaken that there were occasions Cosby shared with her advance which the gate would be available.

Prosecutors have called to the stand five other women who said Cosby drugged and assaulted them, too.
