Bodies of all 4 missing Valencia family members recovered from NorCal river

The body of Siddhant Thottapilly was found at about 4 p.m. submerged in the Eel River about 6 miles (9.6 kilometers) downstream from where the family auto reportedly crashed, Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Capt. Gregory L. Van Patten said in a statement.

Investigators searching for a missing Indian family in Northern California found the body of a 12-year-old boy - the last of four members who died after their vehicle plunged into the rain-swollen Eel river.

It was encased in sediment from the river current, but divers were able to feel a person inside.

Last week, the rescue team had found the body of a woman, later identified to be that of Soumya, and remains of the vehicle and the belongings of the Thottapilly family.

Searchers along the banks located numerous items consistent with a Honda vehicle and interior, and items consistent with a family traveling on vacation, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. MORE: Witness recalls SUV matching missing Valencia family's vehicle flipping into Eel River The family was scheduled to arrive to visit a friend in the San Jose area on April 6 as a strong storm dumped rain on Northern California, but never showed up, authorities said. The search teams then started to look and spotted a vehicle that was submerged around 4 to 6 feet underneath the water. A body was found in the ocean at the scene, but it has not been identified.

The California Highway Patrol said it did not believe there was any foul play.

Authorities in Mendocino County Monday said searchers found the bodies of two more members of a Valencia family of four who disappeared when their SUV tumbled into a river amid a driving rainstorm. "The vehicle attempted to pull over to the shoulder into a big pullout, and the vehicle came close to coming to a stop and ended up going over the edge and into the river", said Lt.

Around 70 searchers had been looking for the missing Thottapilly family near the Eel River in Leggett, California. Their last known location was near Klamath near the OR border.
