Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is desperate to win the Champions League, saying that was his focus ahead of individual prizes.

"I said after 10-15 minutes we will be champions", said Guardiola of his side's fast start.

The 25-year-old has scored 30 goals in 32 league appearances for Liverpool in his debut season at the club and is a favourite to win the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award.

"If I had a choice between the Champions League and the Golden Boot, then of course it would be the Champions League, no doubt the Champions League".

Salah has now scored 40 goals across competitions this term, becoming only the third player in Liverpool history to reach that figure.

Chelsea kept their faint hopes of Champions League football next season alive by closing to within seven points of Spurs with a stunning eight-minute fightback to deepen Southampton's predicament in the bottom three.

Just days after stunningly knocking Manchester City out of the UEFA Champions League on the back of a final 5-1 result over two legs, Liverpool proved that they had no intention of taking the Premier League for granted.

"Now we still have four games and they have five games so I have to think about my games and we see".

He added: "Of course I can not lie - it is in my mind".

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp acknowledged on Friday that the forthcoming tie with Roma would be at the forefront of fans' minds, but his immediate priority of securing a top-four league finish was evident by the fact he made just one change to his team.

"He knows that the way we play suits him".

"I am also sure that Tottenham's players try to help Harry Kane and also Manchester City's try to help Sergio Aguero".

"I will try my best to score again and help the team".

For all Liverpool's dominance, they only had one goal to show for it in the first half as Salah continued to be frustrated, with Steve Cook's brilliant challenge denying him.
