Trump welcomes emir of Qatar to White House

Mattis welcomed the emir of Qatar to the Pentagon today for a meeting to reaffirm the strategic security partnership between the USA and Qatar. Trump had followed the lead of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in taking a hard line against Qatar, saying the country needed to scale back ties with Iran and stop funding extremism.

Trump hasn't repeated that cost lately and Qatar has since taken steps to deal with USA considerations.

Qatar's Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will join Trump for a midday meeting and working lunch Tuesday that the White House said will focus on strengthening ties.

Trump says in the Oval Office that "we're making sure that terrorism funding is stopped" in the region.

President Donald Trump vouched publicly on Tuesday for Qatar's efforts to stop the funding of terrorism, reversing his past critique and lending presidential credence to Qatari claims that it's been unfairly maligned by its Persian Gulf rivals.

Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani addresses allegations the country supported terrorism.

Britain's Got Talent 2018: Declan Donnelly to present WITHOUT Ant McPartlin
Dec made his debut appearance without Ant in last month's Saturday Night Takeaway before returning for the final last Saturday. ITV said the Britain's Got Talent auditions had been filmed in January, before Ant was charged with a drink-driving offence.

The event being held under his patronage by the Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (Goic) is in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Industry's Industrial Zones Department and Modern Talent, an Oman-based company that specialises in organising events and conferences. Qatar denies this and Washington wants to mediate a truce.

President Donald Trump is hosting the ruling emir of Qatar, the tiny gas-rich nation he once accused of funding terrorism.

"They also discussed the Gulf Cooperation Council and the importance of de-escalating tensions so all USA partners in the region can work together to ensure regional security and stability", White said.

He added, "Those countries are stopping the funding of terrorism that includes UAE, it includes Saudi Arabia, it includes Qatar and others".

In a telephone name final week, Trump credited the emir with working to counter terror financing and extremism. Qatar denies that cost however has taken steps to deal with US considerations.
