The NFL moving forward with the Jesse James rule for catches

Troy Vincent, NFL vice president, confirmed Tuesday to The Washington Post that the competition committee is proposing that a catch would be deemed complete when the receiver has control of the ball and remains in bounds. "And we'll go back to the old replay standard of reverse the call on the field only when it's indisputable".

The NFL's most controversial rule is about to get an upgrade, and the changes should make most fans happy. And then we applied that to the rule. Also to be proposed for elimination will be the rule that slight movement of the ball in a receiver's hands should negate a catch.

New York Giants owner John Mara told ESPN in February that the competition committee agreed that a handful of highly debated rulings - including incompletions for Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson in 2010 and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant in 2014 - should be called completions moving forward. Hopefully, this change will lead to players and coaches not having to question what a catch is and fans will not be left frustrated after feeling like their team was robbed by the infamous catch rule. The provisions that could be taken out of the rule book add much-needed clarity to the rule and will help officials stay more consistent from game to game. "Indisputable visual evidence" of an error became "clear and obvious evidence" of a mistaken call. "The Jesse James play, that'd be a catch".

Vincent explained the process of determining what should be ruled a catch: "We worked backward".

YES! YES!! WWE clears Daniel Bryan for in-ring return
Eventually, he would go forth with trying to get cleared by WWE as they sent him to specialists all around the world. It is also believed that Bryan will be staying in the WWE after his contract expires this September.

Questions about the catch rule have circulated for years, and the league has made several attempts to tweak it in recent years.

The proposal comes three weeks in the wake of National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell lobbying for a change to the rule, noting that the going-to-the-ground proponent "is creating a lot of the confusion".

The committee has spent the past two days working through rule proposals to present to owners when they gather next week in Orlando, Florida.
