How does the signing of Morgan Burnett change the Steelers' offeason plan?

Veteran safety Morgan Burnett is officially leaving the Green Bay Packers, but not before writing a thank you note on social media.

While the Pittsburgh Steelers have yet to formally announce the signing of free agent safety Morgan Burnett, some numbers related to the contract he's reportedly agreed to are now surfacing. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said the deal is now worth $14.5 million.

Burnett spent eight seasons in Green Bay. That team was the Packers, as Burnett found himself fulfilling multiple roles within their defense as a safety who would play in the box, covering the slot, or even in backed-off coverage.

Citi cardmembers may access tickets starting March 19 at noon through March 22 at 5pm prior to the general on-sale on March 23. It is presented by Live Nation Global Touring in association with Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment and Jay-Z's Roc Nation .

However, Burnett hasn't been able to stay on the field as consistently as the Packers would've liked in recent years. By their evaluations, he missed only three tackles last season with Green Bay, an issue the Steelers struggled with throughout the year. None of his injuries have been particularly serious, though. Thomas has served as the Miami Dolphins' special teams captain for the last two seasons.

Adding Burnett will certainly help solidify the back end for Pittsburgh on the defensive side of the ball.

It took some time for the Pittsburgh Steelers to get going but fans should be happy to see them dive head first into free agency.
