Vikings View Teddy Bridgewater as "Viable Backup Plan"

Vikings View Teddy Bridgewater as

With the understanding that the Vikings' QB decision - and specifically where Kirk Cousins is going to wind up - is dominating the hearts and minds of tons of Vikings fans, I'm going to attempt to round up all the pertinent information as we know it right now.

Cousins is in line to make history.

Matthew Coller and Judd Zulgad lay out plans for the Minnesota Vikings in free agency in both scenarios in which they sign quarterback Kirk Cousins or lose him to another team like the Cardinals, Jets or Broncos. "We have great direction with the Denver Broncos - I said it 50 million times".

The Michigan State grad was left to dive into the free agent waters, and he probably won't need to swim for long: The ESPN pundit class has linked him to nine teams. Cousins added a number of tags to his blog post, including "Vikings" and "Jets".

"There is no way I would be where I am today, without the leadership of the Redskins organization", Cousins wrote. "I will forever be grateful to Mike Shanahan for taking a chance on me in the 2012 draft". Thank you all for the opportunity you gave me.

Chiefs part ways with LB Tamba Hali
An injury slowed Hali's 2017 season, and his productivity has declined in recent years. The Kansas City Chiefs released former Beaufort standout Ron Parker on Monday.

"At the time many people saw his selection as foolish", Cousins said.

If the Broncos want to go from 5-11 thanks to a awful eight-game losing streak in 2017 to 10-6 and a playoff spot in 2018, they must sign one of two quarterbacks from the free agent market. Minnesota's Teddy Bridgewater and even journeyman Josh McCown figure to be on the list of "bridge" quarterbacks - quarterbacks with experience but smaller price tags who could lead the team until a younger quarterback, perhaps a drafted rookie, is ready to take the reins.

Cousins said that even though he'll play elsewhere, "you never fully leave your first National Football League team, especially after six seasons".

But they will face stiff competition to land him and Cardinals stars Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson have also publicly lobbied this week for Cousins to come and join them in Arizona. Currently, the Denver Broncos have about $35 million in cap space to spend on a free agent, which is not a good sign in this case. And the former Redskins quarterback, in his goodbye to his old team and city, may have hinted about where he's going with an accidental (?) HTML slipup.
