Kyle Williams sticking with the Buffalo Bills

Kyle Williams sticking with the Buffalo Bills

A person familiar with the situation confirms to The Associated Press that free agent defensive tackle Star Lotulelei has reached an agreement to sign a five-year contract with the Buffalo Bills.

His future in Carolina was uncertain after the Panthers signed defensive tackle Kawann Short to a five-year, $80 million contract extension last off-season, and also used a first-round pick to draft Vernon Butler last year. He was taken 14th overall in the 2013 NFL Draft and has disappointed compared to that first-round status.

Kyle Williams is expected to move on and the Bills traded Marcell Dareus to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017.

Williams is the longest-tenured player on the Bills' roster, he will turn 35 in June. Of those yards, 1,105 were inside the tackles, and opponents' 4.8 yards per rush inside the tackles was tied for worst in the NFL.

Martial fit for Sevilla clash: Mourinho
Here Press Association Sport details some of the talking points ahead of Tuesday night's game. It was no different for him against Liverpool, although he was taken off only in injury time.

The Bills' depth at defensive tackle, among other positions, appeared to be severly lacking. He has been named to five Pro Bowls and started 162 of the 167 games in Buffalo, where he frequently was voted as a team captain. Bills general manager Brandon Beane is also familiar with Lotulelei and played a role in drafting him after previously serving as the Panthers assistant GM.

Lotulelei has been a reliable anchor along the trenches for the Panthers, starting all 16 games the last two seasons.

Former general manager Dave Gettleman, who was sacked in July, picked defensive tackle Vernon Butler in the first round of the 2016 draft, knowing it would be tough to give big contracts to both Short and Lotulelei.
