Chiefs part ways with LB Tamba Hali

Hali had signed a 3-year, $21 million extension as recently as 2016, and a cap hit of almost $9.4 million this coming season simply wasn't anything the Chiefs could afford to stomach.

The Kansas City Chiefs released former Beaufort standout Ron Parker on Monday.

Make no mistake: The Chiefs had aged considerably on defense the past couple of years, especially in the linebacker corps, where Johnson and Hali had been the foundation for years.

Hali, one of the Chiefs' longest-tenured players, is second all-time in franchise history in sacks with 89 1/2, behind only Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas.

Apple Lands First Animated Series, Central Park
Bouchard will remain busy; not only is Bob's Burgers continuing at FOX, but a movie has been in development for a while. Apple's list of content for its video service is constantly growing, and Central Park is the latest addition.

An injury slowed Hali's 2017 season, and his productivity has declined in recent years. It was also a decision made easier knowing Hali had made only 2 starts over the last two seasons combined.

"Tamba has been a tremendous ambassador for our organization, both on and off the playing field", Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said. "Now it's time for me to move on".

Hali (6-3, 275) originally entered the NFL as a first-round selection (20th overall) of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2006 NFL Draft.

"I'm grateful I had the privilege of working with Tamba and getting to know him on a personal level", Head Coach Andy Reid said. The 30-year-old has been a starter the past four years. "We think we have some good young players and feel comfortable with them".
