Barnett suspended for opening round NCAA Tournament game

Missouri forward Jordan Barnett could be in a lot of trouble just a few days before the NCAA Tournament begins. If this policy is followed, Barnett would miss at least one NCAA Tournament game. The Tigers' program was so irrelevant, so far from the tournament bubble and not even an afterthought on selection Sunday, when 68 teams are chosen and seeded for the sport's showcase event. So should the Tigers beat Florida State in the first round, Barnett would be available for Sunday's second round game - a matchup that would likely pit them against No. 1 seed Xavier. The victor of the Florida State vs. Missouri game will face the victor of the Xavier vs. The victor will go on to play the winner of Xavier and NC Central/Texas Southern.

Overall, the Noles have made 16 appearances in March Madness, last making the Sweet 16 in 2011.

Considering the Seminoles are coached by Leonard Hamilton, Bill Self's former boss at Oklahoma State, these deployments serve as emphatic evidence that the Division I men's basketball committee doesn't have the flexibility or inclination to concoct mischievous potential matchups.

With back-to-back tournament appearances, the 'Noles have now made the "Big Dance" in six of the last 10 seasons. They will play Florida State in Nashville on Friday with the victor of that likely facing one seeded Xavier.

Ohio State headed to the "Big Dance" as a 5-seed
Otzelberger, won the Summit League regular-season and tournament championships and enter the NCAA Tournament with a 28-6 record. Four players are averaging at least 9.3 points per game for South Dakota State, they are Mike Daum (10.4), David Jenkins Jr.

Florida State (20-11, 9-9 Atlantic Coast Conference) defeated four ranked teams this season - Florida, North Carolina, Miami and Clemson.

Barnett has started every game for the Tigers this season, averaging 13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

NCAA Tournament tickets are on sale now.
