India's Inflation Eases In February

India's retail inflation fell to 4.4 percent in February as prices of vegetables and other food and beverages softened, data released by Central Statistics Office on Monday showed.

The IIP growth in January this year was mainly on account of uptick in manufacturing sector which constitutes 77.63 percent of the index.

Capital goods, a barometer of investments, showed a sharp increase in output by 14.6% in January, 2018 as against a decline of 0.6% year ago.

Last month, the RBI's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) estimated inflation at 5.1 per cent in the quarter ended March, including the impact of house rent allowance.

India's annual consumer price inflation remained steady in September from the. IIP grew at 4.1% in April-January this fiscal as compared to 5% in same period in previous financial year.
