Apple buys magazine app Texture that's partially owned by Rogers

"We're excited Texture will join Apple, along with an impressive catalog of magazines from numerous world's leading publishers", said Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software & Services, in a statement.

If you're interested in trying it out, you should know that some of the magazines part of the Texture app include National Geographic, GQ, People, Vogue, Wired, Sports Illustrated, Men's Health and a lot more. Ready to experience magazines like never before? Cue says it depends on what trusted publications you follow, but Apple News wants to show you more than what is most popular or what fits your viewpoint.

The focus for Apple will be on telling great stories with its video programming, which is why the company is committing to longer-form videos. Apple already delivers curated news from third-party publishers through its Apple News platform. Texture's apps for iOS, Android, and Windows 10/8 (yes) will continue to work - at least for the time being.

Cue admitted that Apple is now "making big investments" financially speaking in original content, adding that spending cash "isn't an issue" for the tech company, which is sitting on one of the largest available cash piles of any company in the world.

Saudi Aramco IPO likely to be delayed until 2019
Prince Mohammed has wanted to list the company in NY as well, although Saudi officials have expressed concern about scrutiny from US regulators.

And yet, CNN's Dylan Byers, who interviewed Cue, asked why the NRA has a presence in the App Store and on Apple TV.

Texture is owned by Next Issue Media, a joint-venture between Condé Nast, Hearst Magazines, Meredith Corp, News Corp and Rogers Media.

John Loughlin, CEO of Next Issue Media and Texture, said in a release the company "could not imagine a better home or future for the service".
