Palestinians clash with IDF troops during hunt for Havat Gilad killer

An accomplice of a Palestinian suspected of shooting dead an Israeli man last month was arrested in the northern West Bank overnight Saturday, the IDF said in a statement. The Red Crescent said five other protesters were injured by rubber-coated bullets in the same incident.

The army has been searching for the killers of Rabbi Raziel Shevach, 32, a resident of the Havat Gilad outpost near Nablus, who was shot 22 times close to his home in a drive-by attack on Route 60. While in Burqin troops used loudspeakers to tell residents to leave their homes and called on Jarrar to turn himself in.

The army was accompanied by bulldozers and drones, and lay siege to several houses in the village, in their continued search for another Palestinian, Ahmad Jarrar.

Three homes belonging to the Jarrar family were previously demolished by the army during their first incursion in January. He is the seventh Palestinian to be killed by Israel this year.

It was worth it, fun, you're in and out", said Madeleine Gates of Milton. Some danced to stay warm while others embraced the cold. Those who braved the temperatures say it was worth it.

The operation represents Israeli authorities' continuing search for Ahmad Nasr Jarar, not to be confused with the slain terrorist Ahmed Isma'il Muhammad Jarar.

Jarrar himself is believed to have evaded capture during a January 18 operation to arrest him in Jenin.

During the night, IDF forces and the Israel Police arrested nine wanted terrorists suspected of involvement in terrorist activities, popular terror, and violent disturbances against civilians and security forces. They were taken for questioning.
