More than 50 people were killed and over 850 others were injured in the mass shooting on October 1, 2017, when Stephen Paddock fired at country music fans in Las Vegas from across the street at the Mandalay Bay hotel.

During Sunday night's 60th Annual Grammy Awards in New York City, country stars Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne and Eric Church took time out of the celebration to pay tribute to victims of violence at live music events over the course of the a year ago, including the devastating Las Vegas concert shooting.

Praying , which appeared on the singer's most recent album Rainbow , was released amid the singer's ongoing legal battle with Dr. Since then, other stars have come out in support including Kelly Clarkson and Pink , who have described the misconduct of Dr.

Behind the musicians was a glowing wall of screens that showed each of the victims' names. "The painful truth is that this year, in just those two events, 81 music lovers just like us went out to enjoy a night of music, and never came back home, with many more injured and still healing". Outside of the Las Vegas shooting, 2017 also saw the terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester last May.

"As survivors of the Route 91 Harvest Festival mass shooting in Las Vegas, we applaud the Recording Academy for using its national platform to honor the lives of gun violence victims and survivors at the Grammy Awards on Sunday", the statement said.

Church headlined the first night of the festival, which was the last night of his tour.

Considering these artists performed at that festival, their tribute was even more poignant.
